Grey Crowned Crane .. An Unusual Perspective ..   71 comments

Once again I’ve taken a few different photos of the Grey Crowned Crane… something that to me is a tad more artistic and pleasing to my eye… here they are…

That’s what they look like and these are a bit different…

and now for a lame joke… no a duck joke…

There was a duck who walked into a store and said, “got any candy?” The storekeeper said, “no, we don’t.” The next day, the duck went into the same store and asked the same thing and got the same answer. The duck kept going back every day for a week and asked the same thing and kept getting the same answer until the store keeper got so angry he said, “if you come in here and ask that again, I will hit you on the head with a hammer!” The next day, the duck walks into the store and asks, “got a hammer?” The store keeper says, “no.” Then the duck asks, “got any candy?”

  1. MOL.. :D

  2. Amazing shots, Rob! We have very boring birds in Norway compared to this one. ;)

  3. Wow, these are dramatic images, Rob! Just absolutely fascinating. I love the composition of all of them. Beautiful.

  4. This approach gives you a good series of shots with additional interest. The punk hairstyle in particular stand out for me, along with the natural textures and colours.

  5. WOW!

  6. I never realized what a beautiful the crane is, especially his crown! The shots are breathtakingly beautiful. The joke is absolutely hysterical!

  7. :-) :-) Hah hah nice one!!!

  8. that’s some persistent and clever duck! What gorgeous plumage have you captured here, Rob!!!

  9. It’s the stupid jokes that most often make me laugh the hardest! This was a good one! And what a gorgeous crane. That beautiful crown! I like the way you zeroed in on particular details. Very nice, Rob. Please say “hi” to Linda for me! :-)

  10. Well our cranes don’t look like that! Fab photos. Cool hairdos and great pantaloons! You’ve really captured this bird’s quirkiness.

  11. The last photo is my favorite, what a face! Lovely bird. And I love corny jokes!

    • Thanks Brenda… it is a beautifully coloured bird that needs the close ups to show off all the different colours and textures…. I did enjoy this shoot…

  12. Just love this bird and your photos are fabulous. Had a good giggle at the duck joke.

  13. Love the gorgeous images! Love that you explored different angles…AND loved the joke! Thanks for the laugh :)

    • Thanks Suzanne… it is your photos and tip that had me experimenting with these birds… and I did enjoy it and am happy with the results… a slightly different feeling of what I must look for… won’t work with small birds, but I did enjoy it…

  14. I love seeing the detail in these photos – wonderful!

  15. Amazing creatures mother nature has invented, and an amazing photographer to share their images with all of us: thanks, Rob.

  16. Exellent pictures and a clever duck for sure! The crane is a beautiful animal from all angles.

These shots are absolutely perfect and creative indeed! Love the colours and what a beautiful crane! You are so blessed to be surrounded by so much beauty my friend. :D *hugs*

  22. These birds from an artistic point of view have such brilliant colours and beautiful textures! Got a hammer? hahaha love it!

  23. Wow,Lovely pic.Thanks for sharing !

  24. I love your “different and artistic” perspective…gorgeous subject, too!

  25. Nice one! I’ve only seen one in a zoo.

  26. I adore your corny jokes Bulldog!

I find these shots you are taking to be so wonderful. Anyone can take a photo of an entire animal (ok, maybe not if he is moving lol), and they do have their place, but to set the focus on a particular area I feel can be so much more interesting…the golden crown tipped in black, those layers of tail feathers in varied colors and textures and that ruby throat and touch of ruby on the head. These are stunning! :)

  27. Oh my word…the pictures are brilliant and the joke is hysterical!! I cannot wait to share this one!!! Bulldog, you put the joy in blogging for sure!!!

  28. Lovely pic. Awful joke. Duck! (You’re being shot at!)

  29. Always good to see the other side of a bird……and so few people take shots of them.

    (good joke).

  30. Hahaha! Nice joke and beautiful photographs. Thanks for sharing :)

  31. hahahahahahaha oh I am stealing this joke! Can’t wait to try it out on people later today. :)
The grey crowned crane is absolutely gorgeous! You get the BEST shots, I swear!
