204 days blogging… 200th post….
It seems like just yesterday I started blogging after becoming bored with writing articles on a different site.. there I had written 217 articles in 200 days, had a following of 185 and had 75000 views. It was hard work and extremely time consuming, commenting on others articles and replying to comments on my articles..
I started to blog for fun… I still do… I never started to look for followers, but merely to post photos and stories to have somewhere the family could look to see what Dad was up to. I had lost all my photographic history when a flood stole everything from my house in 2001, nothing was saved, and I saw blogging as a way of storing some of my memories.
I started to follow others and to comment, I’m no photographer, just a total amateur who loves a hobby. I love the interaction of the comments, I love to comment, not from an experts eye, but from an appreciative audience’s point of view.
I now have 378 followers, 15 500 views and 4100 comments… I love it… I love you all… I love that you comment on my blog and photos… you are all so special to me, that I could never consider stopping… so I have to get out, take more photos and look at all your posts… from the bottom of my heart I thank you all…
I am so glad I have made so many friends all over the world… in fact I find it difficult to believe all the different countries that show up on my stats… I hope I have never offended any of you with my comments on your blogs.. I have a weird sense of humour… but judging by the return comments it would appear as though you all know when I’m joking… and I feel for those that are suffering and going through hard times, and if my comments are not what you want, please say so… I do it to try to ease your hardships…. I do love you all and you’re all the most amazing photographers, poets, authors, comics and friends…
Now for my photos for this post I have to show you the Most AmaZing Darn Automobile that my Son recently bought me… it is a MAZDA 6.. and I love it…
And it’s dangerous… according to the sign…
This actually looks quite creepy. Great atmosphere.
Thanks I think…
I wondered why you responded with this comment & now looking back this was supposed to be for another picture altogether. Not sure how the heck this comment appeared here. Clearly going mad my end.
Well that explains a lot… but never worry I’ve had it happen to me as well… just wondered what was weird about my new car…
My Dad has one that looks almost the same, well I say the same. Its a Mazda 6 in silver, and has more scratch marks and resprays than pretty much any other in the known universe. So whilst I find the car comfortable, and commendably rapid I now prefer not to let him take me out for a ride.
I probably scare the hell out of my kids as well
At least the car looks dent free.
Congratulations Rob! Your posts are fantastic, your images amazing and you are obviously a blessed man with a wonderful family! In my book, that’s success!
Yes a wonderful family is a sign I did something right when they were young… my friends whom I expected to be dumb founded by the revelation… all said that they don’t find it unusual that my son would do this… he’s a great friend…
Congratulations! I think you have a successful blog because you aren’t out there just for the numbers. You genuinely share from what pleases you and that translates into a lovely blog. I find the same pleasure in meeting others around the world. I really enjoy your photography, and it is just so sad to hear that you lost everything in a flood! Wow! I hope you continue to enjoy much success with your delightful blog! 🙂
Thank you… yes to me the numbers just astound me… and I normally have to remind the family to have a look… but still it’s fun and I just love the blogs I follow… I hope I never run out of photos to post… so that gives me the excuse to go out to look for more…
We all follow and comment on your blog simply because it’s super! 🙂
How kind of you to say that.. thank you..
I’m quite a recent visitor to your site. Congratulations on your blogging and all that you’ve done so far. I’m really enjoying the great photos and words – looking forward to many, many more and enjoying following you! Ruth 🙂
Thank you Ruth… yes a new follower of your blog as well, which I thoroughly enjoy… just came as a big surprise when I saw I’d posted 199… glad you’re following and enjoy following you…
You are such a sweet man! Sounds like you have a very sweet son…I can’t believe he bought you such a nice car! You are very blessed! 🙂
Can’t argue with that… I mean about the son… not sure the wife would agree with you about me though… but I will accept it with good grace and thank you profusely…
Congratulations on your 200th Post. Fantastic!
Thank you so much.. it just seems a milestone I never thought I’d reach…
Congrats on your 200th post. the interaction with bloggers all over the world is excellent indeed..and your car is a real beauty:)
Thank you… want to come for a ride..???? I love the chitter chatter and serious discussions that appear on blogs… the comments sometimes give so much meaning to the actual post’… I love it too…
Congratulations on the milestone! You’re very well liked and admired in this community 🙂
I think you’ve left the funniest responses on my blogs than anyone else – you have an amazing sense of humour!
I totally feel for you losing your work back in 2001 in the flood. My laptop was stolen several years ago in a burglary and I lost all my stories. I had backups of most of them, but not the ones I was working on at the time so I had to go back to the drawing board!
I’m looking forward to seeing your next 200 posts! 😀 Cheers xxxx
Thank you for the kind words… yes I now back up the computer on a regular basis and the external back up kept well away from my computer… if wordpress disappears under water we are all in for a swim….
Congratulations dear Rob, I love your amazing photographs and your blog. The car seems so beautiful too. Thank you, love, nia
,
Thanks Nia… I love your blogs as well… want to come for a drive with me..??? I’ll stop so you can take photos….

Thank you Suzanne.. such kind words from such a fantastic photographer… yes I enjoy our exchanges, to chat with someone with a sense of humour like yours… can only lift the spirit one more notch…. I love my car.. pity petrol prices are so high at the moment otherwise I’d be off on another trip to the parks….
Congratulations on your 200th post, your gift from your son, and all the friends you have made throughout the world. Isn’t amazing how we have all found each other?! Love your sense of humor and your photos you share with us!
thank you so much… yes it is the most amazing connections we make… when I started I only expected the kids to say “He, when did you take that?” but it has become so much more… and so wonderful…I love your blog as well…
Congratulations on your milestone. I hope you keep up with your blogging so we can continue to read all of your interesting stories. Love the car.
Maralee I thank you so much… your photos are an absolute inspiration to me… something I do my best to emulate…I will get it right in the end… its blogs like yours that we all learn from… inspirational…
I started blogging after loosing my mom. Her passing had saddened me so much. All her journals of their travels (US and Europe) were written in German in hard to read handwriting. Hubby and I would like to visit some of the places my mom and dad RVed to but I have to rely on my dad’s memories via phone. Her photos are stored in boxes, many without titles/labels.
Blogging has given me a way to document our travels to share with my kids. The surprising by product has been all the wonderful interaction with folks from around the world. It has also given me more purpose to get out and take photos. Hubby says the light in my eyes has returned and he continues to encourage me…….he even bought me a new camera yesterday (I, of course, picked it out….lol).
From one great parent to another……thanks for following me and I always look forward to your photos, tales, and comments 🙂 Congrats on your blog stats and the wonderful gift from son.
Ingrid I know what you mean…the wife knows when I need to get out… she will encourage me to take the camera and go… I really enjoy your travels, one would love to be in the position to visit all the different places… and it’s with blogs like yours that we get that chance… I really enjoy the travels with you… keep on making them… I’m in the back seat with you…It’s a nice car that will now enable Linda and I to buy a RV as you call it.. caravan we call it here and do some extra travelling ourselves…thanks for your kind words and magnificent blog…
Wow, congrats on 200 posts and on your sweet new ride!! This post tugged at my heart strings because I understand how much the comments and interaction with other bloggers means to you – I feel the same way. My life has been forever changed by starting my blog because I have met wonderful people like you :). And don’t worry – I love your sense of humour!!!
Oh these words are so kind and encouraging… it started as so much less and has grown beyond my wildest dreams… it i so nice to interact with others… and in all my time I’ve only managed to upset one blogger… can’t win them all… but I am going to carry on regardless….and I do love your blog…
Why thank you my friend 🙂
Congratulations my friend!

Yes he is a good boy… I still call him “boy” to his face… we have a very “friend” relationship rather than son / father and that I think is what makes him special to me… thank you for following me for so long and always commenting… I love your blog/blogs now…. just missing the car shows…
Seasons have changed and the cars are all in storage now. Thank you too for following and commenting on my blogs…the birdie butts just make me snicker 😉

Woo-hoo! Sexy little car your son gave you, good boy, looks like he was raised perfectly. Congratulations on your 200th! I agree with everything you said. The bloggers on wordpress are wonderful, including your good self and I am sure I speak for many when I say we love you too bulldog!
Thank you so much… it’s funny how one gets to meet such a cross section of people without really know that much about them… yet here you pull their leg, yet I think in real face to face one wouldn’t do it… I just love it…
I think it is the common appreciation of art that bonds us and gives us a sense of familiarity with each other. It is so much better than creating in isolation, to be inspired by the wonderful and talented bloggers out there.
My son is only 12 so I’m going to tell him now, he needs to start saving! Congrats on the 200th post. I’ve not seen everyone, but I do see are fantastic. I’m glad I found your blog. The sense of humour, well that’s me as well. I love it. The interaction makes it all the more fun.
Best wishes for the next 200.
Thank you Sir yes I do enjoy your blog as well…. yep train them young… to look after Dad when he gets older…
What a wonderful boy you raised! A car like that is a gift most only dream of!!
And bravo on reaching the 200 milestone…blogging surprises me daily, just as it does you…so much interaction and education comes from reading other bloggers!
Give yourself a much deserved pat on the back and go take that gorgeous machine out for the proverbial Sunday drive!!
Thank you so much… yes blogging has turned out to be a complete education… as for the Sunday drive… at the moment it’s an every day drive…
Swanky car, generous son……..I have one too, a son I mean!!! We have Crested Barbets, Black collared Barbets, African Hoopoo’s, Orange beaked Hoopoo’s in the garden. Lovely to watch. A Swallow nest on veranda which we have watched for the past 25yrs, they come back every year and bring off two clutches. We are really enjoying your photographs. The train goes through our town.
Thank you Betty… and here I thought I was going to compare findings on the car, not sons… mine is a good generous boy…I would love to capture the Orange beaked Hoopoe, or the wood hoopoe as it’s also known… you are so lucky to have those all right in the yard… the train from Kathu goes through your town.?? which town is that.?? I could sit and watch that amazing train every day…
Gorgeous car! I’m glad to have found your blog, even though quite recently. I also like the interaction on the blogs and the friends we make all over the world. It is quite wonderful. 🙂
Thank you… yep only found you recently too… but do enjoy your blog posts…
