Do you remember my post about this bird getting dressed for sex… here’s a link if you missed it… I said I was going to try and capture its flight pattern when it shows off its plumage… well today Linda and I went out and tried .. this is what we got, and we will get better but just thought I’d share a few… little blurred, the wind was howling today…
BUT THE BIRDS SEEMED TO BE SAYING “LOOK AT ME LADIES, AREN’T I PRETTY ???”
REMEMBER ME!!!!!!
WELL HERE’S A FEW OF ME FLYING WITH THE LONG THING ATTACHED TO MY END… BUT THE LADIES DO LOVE IT….
What an unusual looking bird.
That he is and quite the aggressive little fellow…
WOW! I haven’t seen this bird before… Amazing. Thanks and Love, nia
Thank you Nia.. yes they will remain so till the end of the breeding season and then they change back to look almost the same as the female bird…
What an interesting bird. Fabulous captures of it, Rob. I imagine it was quite a challenge in the wind. Wind irritates me 🙂 Just sayin’
Thanks Gina… it certainly doesn’t make it easier capturing this bird… alls okay whilst he flies up wind… but then he turns down wind and is gone.. and he does this so often… half my shots were blank…”Where’d he go??” being asked often..
Well, in my humble opinion you did very well. I know the feeling about the blank shots. Sometimes happens with my dogs. I’ll get their tail ends and that’s it.
Very nice! The pics are fantastic 🙂
Thank you.. got to get better ones…
Cool shots! He’s very attractive, I’d date him.
Wish I could change like that each year for a few months… but then I wonder what I’d do with all the women….
Great Capture, I’m looking forward to see your next photos of this bird.
Got to get better ones… thanks
I’m impressed 🙂
He’s impressive… but I must get a better shot…
beautiful indeed
Thank you…
Fantastic! It almost looks Disneyish.
I go with you on that one… the flying tail…
A truely magnificent bird and a stunning display of his mojo! 😀
and he is full of mojo… to see him trying to impress about 10 females all at the same time…
Yes – she is pretty!! 🙂 Love, R
Thanks Robyn
🙂
Such beautiful birds to watch. You did well with the photos. That long tail is so flamboyant. 🙂
You would know how difficult it is to capture one of these… fine when you don’t have your camera.. on the highways they seem to float for you… get your camera out and the are all over the place…
What a remarkable bird … so small and with that stunning tail – dressed for sex … that sounds good to me. Will only get a pair of high heels on. *laughing. Fantastic photo again.Love the second from the top – where it’s flying.
Thanks Viveka… the metamorphose of this bird is phenomenal… but to fly arond as he does with that tail… impressive…
Your bird photos are so great and it’s really intresting to see birds from your part of the world.
Does he trip over his own tail feathers? 😉
I’m sure he does…
I saw these often in the 1980’s and haven’t seen one since, often wondered what they are called. Thank you for bringing back good memories and solving the mystery 🙂
Oh it is only a pleasure… the captures could be so much better but todays wind was against me…
They are more visible when it is windy, I remember that on quiet days you don’t see them often. Still beautiful to me.
He must be quite a heart throb in the bird world 🙂
I believe he mates with a good few females in one area .. but then he has to show himself as the best…
Inizio ad invidiarti un pochino, le tue foto sono sempre molto belle e riesca a catturare momenti particolari della vita degli animali 🙂
Ciao, Pat
Thanks Pat… that is such a nice thing to say…
Beautiful birds. Is it hard for them to take off flying with those long tails?
Specially in todays wind.. with the grass blowing everywhere the camera was having a lot of trouble focusing on the bird… but I will get better shots…
