Sentinel Rock Thrush..

The Sentinel Rock Thrush (Monticola explorator)

It’s found in Lesotho, South Africa, and Swaziland. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland.

Now I don’t know much about this bird and have only seen it once, so I will show you the photos I managed to capture and hope that it is in actual fact the Sentinel Rock-thrush and not the Cape Rock-thrush or the Short-toed Rock-thrush… so any experts out there feel free to assist me here if you so wish…

  1. Nice series. The bird is a Cape rock thrush (Monticola rupestris).

The differentiating ID feature is its brown back as opposed to the blue/grey upper parts of the Sentinel and short-toed rock thrushes.
