What an amazing view to enjoy while sitting on the deck and just relaxing. The yellow mongoose is so cute. Hard to remember he’s a wild animal! Kind of you to share the lamb! 🙂
My son (like me) is such an animal lover .. if he had the chance he would probably try to feed the lion… yes that view, like most of our National Park camps is always spectacular… the sites have been so well chosen ..
What a fun set – it’s wonderful when we get to really interact with nature.
It is great fun… I know they say don’t feed the animals.. I want to see someone resist the temptation when these little fellows come and play outside your door…
I remember as a kid with my father in the then Rhodesia at the Wankie Game Park sitting down to breakfast and being swamped by birds and squirrels that tended to just help themselves from your plate… great fun..
I have seen that in parks too – they become so used to humans that they have no fear.
What a diversity of wildlife you have. Amazing too that squirrels manage to be found all over the world.
Is it not amazing that in one form or other they are every where.. I wonder why that is…??

What creature is that taking the lamb?
That is the yellow mongoose… a tenacious animal that seems almost fearless, they are well known for their ability to kill snakes.. so quick, when the snake strikes they are no longer there…
Feeding the animals and birds must have been quite and experience.
Oh it is so special… they seem so fearless of you and have a certain swagger when the come to visit… almost practiced to get into your heart so that you do give them a snack…

Funny you should say that.. I look at so many different blogs of places you all visit and think you’re living the life… I think we become a bit accustomed to our own lives and don’t realise how lucky we actually are…

Yes they are pretty good at teaching a snake a lesson with those sharp teeth… might have taught my son a lesson…but I do doubt it.. loves animals too much…

We didn’t realise just how he had a sniff at Len’s finger before choosing the meat… it could have taught him a lesson to be more careful… but he is such an animal lover it probably would have just been shrugged off as part of natures way…

That got me thinking, would the smell of meat grilling attract lions? I know they like their meat rare, but still … just wondering. Bacon frying attracts bears, so maybe lions like their meat grilled too. Looks like a lovely place to camp though.
No Lions will shy away from a fire.. and I’ve never seen them asking for a braai..lol… but I do think if you left cooked meat lying around I’m sure they would appreciate it…

I love all of your little critter friends, but I still can’t believe you’re sitting in shorts and no shirt while I have to wear a winter coat and boots. Can I come for a visit pleaseeeeeeeee?? LOL
You can come anytime… with temps around 40 C shirts just make it warmer… but as the sunsets it cools down to a livable 25 odd… who needs a shirt in Africa… wish more woman would think like that…

How delightful, Bulldog. That first picture of the squirrel caught my attention; the way it is sitting, with it’s tail up over its back is a pose I never saw on a squirrel before.
They are known for this.. they use it as a sunshade and often lie down with the tail over their backs.. I think their enemies flying above would have difficulties seeing their natural camouflage… they certainly use it a lot in the Kalahari as an umbrella…

I assume you’re talking about the squirrels … and not me being fairly hairless… the squirrels are fascinating to watch… as soon as they get a little hot they turn their back to the sun and put up their tail.. or the dig a shallow hole and lie in it…
