Laughing Dove.. a common sight in Africa.

Laughing Dove (Spilopelia senegalensis)

The dove is a small pigeon that is a resident breeder in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East east to the Indian Subcontinent. it was even introduced to Australia in the early 1880s. It was introduced in Western Australia and has established itself in the wild around Perth and Fremantle.

I don’t think a day goes past in my life that I don’t see a laughing dove somewhere…

My daughter created a bird feeder using a Pine cone.. and small tray to feed the small LBJ (little brown jobs) that inhabit the garden. The seed is packed into the pine cone with peanut butter and the tray filled with seed. The thought was that the doves, that seem to eat everything, would not be able to sit on the tray or cone. In the beginning this was true… but the tenacity of the dove was a little under estimated.. with many failed attempts behind the screens, this pair found a way… I captured them on camera…

African Darter.. a common bird.

African Darter (Anhinga rufa )

The Darter is a common bird where water is plentiful and fish abound.. now this one I know is also in the Americas and only differs by the thin white lateral neck stripe. It is found world wide .. American (Anhinga anhinga), Oriental (Anhinga melanogaster), and Australian (Anhinga novaehollandiae) Darters, are all family. So yes.. I’m not showing you something you probably haven’t seen before… but I do like these photos…

Damn

How I wish I could do this… poems..

Crown of Thorns

Acacia, crown of desert thorn.
No priceless pearls or Gold
Upon Christ’s head was borne,
To Cavalry’s cross I’m told.

Void of gems in shades of Tourmaline
Only blood crimson crown of red.
Twas not the richest crown ere seen,
But hideous thorns instead

Those thorns of sin stand in our place,
Representing thee and me
For ere Adam fell from Godly Grace
No thorns grew on that tree.

Ok All the Experts out there.. Now what are your comments..

My last post asking for aid, brought forth all the creative minds. The criticism and input was gratefully received, in fact I had some of my best laughs at myself, didn’t realise what an idiot I was. Putting out an ad without contacts, using my normal verbosity, and trying to do a verbal sale via an ad was not the way to go.

Expounders of wisdom came flying to my aid.. Penny L Howe, Venessa-Jane Chapman, Latitude28 (her husband), SherryM (an old acquaintance) who roped in her son. bloganoceros (who bluntly told me I’d posted a heap of s…), Lorna’s voice (dang she can get serious as well), Artsifrtsy another helpful contributor and of course all of you swinging between the white and green background.

Well I knocked up another, and am once again turning to my friends to give me your opinion…. would this ad make you interested enough to contact me?? Not for my pretty face, or hilarious demeanour, not even for my heavenly vivacious body, but for my software program..

Speak up, feel free to vent any pent up anger on me, but just tell me if this grabs you or not… remember, you must think like a Golf Course Manager, that is being pestered by the powers that be,  to start saving costs on a budget of around the 5 to 6 million mark, and they are expecting at least a 10% REDUCTION…

White-breasted Cormorant..

White-breasted Cormorant (Phalacrocorax lucidus)

What can I tell you about this bird.?  Nothing except it appears to be everywhere I go.. how many sub-specie there are, or anything else.. I have no idea.. but they are always there at the waters edge begging to be photographed… So here’s a few photos…
