A Little Dressage.. while selling terratry

Whilst on the road, I got the chance to see a little dressage. Our SA Champion was there and made it look easy… even did a little jumping specially for me to get photos…

  1. When horse riding becomes a word- and effortless play between horse and rider, it becomes an art. Nice photos of beautiful animals. Who need to roam free as often as they can…

  2. That is such a difficult job … to dressage, for me is it a difficult job to get up on a horse and stay on it …
This out of the question. Excellent gallery … beautiful equipage – love horse shows. We have Volvo Cup in Gothenburg over Easter every year and when I lived there, I was always there at least for one evening.

    • They do make it look so easy.. and yes I’m one of those when I get on the back of a horse, I’m guaranteed to fall off..
I have never been very interested in this type sport .. but now I’m hooked…

  3. Lovely photographs, Bulldog! The white horse looks like it could share bloodlines with the Lipizzaners, especially as he moves as if he’s dancing. It always amazes me how flimsy horses’ ankles are!

    • The SA champ was employed at the Lipizzaners in Jburg for a few years, so this horse could have originated from there… I know it cost a few hundred thou…

  4. Love to see good horses and riders combined. Wish I had got to that level …
Hopefully, some fiddling in Reader will now enable me to get notice of your posts. ‘Following’ didn’t do the trick.

    • Thank you… wish I could stay on a horse.. always fall off… try reader and edit, and then select what notice you wish to receive.. took me awhile to figure it out…

      • I still enjoy riding enormously. Wish I had my own horse, and could develop my passion for ‘Natural Horsmanship’ with it to the extent that a bit became unneccesary.

That is what, after much zooming around, I finally did!

  5. It is amazing what horses can be trained to do. It seems to me that those steps are totally against what a horse would naturally do; we could start a whole dialogue about fairness to animals, or simply enjoy the beauty of their dressage work. Wonderful shots.

Where do you keep them all?

    • The one thing that amazed me when talking to the Champ.. was the way his horse kept nudging him and almost asking for more… the horses certainly seemed to enjoy it…

  6. Nice photos… As you know I love horses and work with them for almost all my life. That s why I don’t watch Dressage or Jumping and for sure never ever Military anymore. 1 out of 1000 riders is a good rider. All others: shame on them how they treat and ride their poor horses. Hard hands, yanking on their mouths, they are bumping like potato bags on the horses backs, spurs and smacks for all and nothing. This makes me sad.

  7. Oh, I just love horses bulldog and the photo’s you took are absolutely amazing my friend. So glad you could share it with us. 🙂 *hugs*

    • Thank you Sonel… never been one interested in this, but having spoken to the champ I have never realised how much went into the training and control of the horses… and the horses seem to love it…

      • The horses would love it bulldog as they are bred for that kind of sports and these people absolutely love and adore their horses and that is what I like about them and yes, it is a lot of work indeed but so fulfilling and I am glad you could share your beautiful photo’s with us. 🙂 *hugs*
