The Beauty of a Pretoria Sunrise.

It was not my intention to post a sunrise today, but the pure brilliance of what greeted me this morning has to be shared. Blurry eyed, cup of tea and a cigarette, out on to the balcony and this is what greeted me at 5.30 in the morning.

And as time passed this is how the sky developed….

and then the sun broke the horizon….

  1. I believe this is the first sunrise I have seen you post. My but they are gorgeous in your part of the world. I love looking out over the first colors of the day, the world blanketed in silence before creatures big and small begin to stir…(sigh). πŸ™‚

    • I see most sunrises here as I’m up long before the sun… but there are not that many that are like this one… some beauts but not worth posting … this one was exceptional… thank you LuAnn

    • I have never seen a sunrise this red… plenty of sunsets through the dust, but not a sunrise… it was the way the rays went under the cloud and coloured it before it rose … absolutely fascinating to watch…

  2. You’ve just reminded me of my favorite song from childhood–‘We Are Marching To Praetoria’. “Sing with me. I’ll sing with you and so we will sing together, So we will sing together…” BTW–some of the best sunrise shots I’ve ever seen! keep’em comin’.

  3. Ahhh so stunning! I’m usually up before the sun here each morning and love watching the sunrise, there’s something special about seeing the dawn on a new day. πŸ™‚ But the sunrises here are nothing in comparison to this, thanks for sharing!

  4. You wouldn’t want to see what greeted me this morning at 5.19….. so I went back to bed…… and it is still raining and grey now… πŸ™‚
Glad I can see your beautiful sky, well worth getting up early! Thank you

  5. Bloody stunning (excuse my language!). I too am often up early to see the sunrise – while the rest of the house is sleeping – including unfortunately the photographer in the household! One day though I will capture and share for you – in the meantime I shall enjoy yours πŸ™‚

    • Kick the photographer out of the bed and tell him to share these magic moments with you… I’ve done that to my wife for years… does she get out of bed? No, but she does say she will take my word for the beauty out there… lol but I do agree Bloody stunning all right
