90… What does it feel like?

The 6th March 1924.. a day my Mom won’t remember, not because it was so long ago, but because she was too small to remember what it felt like on her birth date.

I asked what does it feel like to be 90? “It’s just another day the good Lord has given me.”

Happy Birthday Mom !! 90, still in, a good innings.

YES, I’M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I’m the life of the party…… even if it lasts until 8 p.m. 
I’m very good at opening child proof caps…. with a hammer.
I’m usually interested in going home before I get to 
where I am going.
I’m awake many hours before my body allows me to get up. 
I’m smiling all the time because I can’t hear a thing you’re saying. 
I’m very good at telling stories; over and over and over and over again. 
I’m so cared for — long term care, eye care, private care, dental care.

I’m wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that’s just my left leg.

I’m having trouble remembering simple words like…..

I’m beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Have a truly wonderful 90th birthday
But behave in a responsible way
No nightclubs or pole dancing
Tomorrow perhaps, but not today
You don’t want to shock the young ‘uns

  4. Beautiful tribute to your mom. My mom became 90 too … some prestigious age. I wish her only the best for all the days that will follow. *smile

    • Thank you Viveka… we had a party for her at the old age home, some of the elder people were 10 years younger than her yet looked older… she will probably live longer than me…

    • Thanks LuAnn… we had her party at the old age home today, 80 old people what a lot of fun, one that has her 103 birthday two weeks from now… they have as much fun as kids at a party… the more sweet stuff you give the more they like it…

    • Thank you Debra.. and I know she will thank you as well when I read these to her on Saturday at her party… she had such a wonderful day yesterday with everyone making a fuss and all… just like a kid again… I loved it…

  13. Ahh, this is wonderful Bulldog. Wishing your lovely mom a wonderful 90th birthday, and many more to come! I remember when I lived in the States coming ‘home’ to England to celebrate my Granny’s 90th birthday as if were yesterday. I hope I get to celebrate my mum’s too but a few more years to go before then 🙂

    • Thank you Sherri I will pass on your wishes to her on Saturday at her party at the old age home… going to feel like a teenage amid all of the crowd… I’ll be able to charm all the old girls for half the day… thanks again and I know she will thank you as well… she was thrilled at all the wishes this morning from all over the world, it more than fascinated her….

  23. Wow 90 hugs and blessings to Bulldog’s dear Mom, a grande dame who still looks so alert and strong. What a privilege for you Bulldog to still have your Mom in your life. Although she cannot open emails I am sure she has a ball looking at your postings and reading our comments here and there as you scroll down for her.     • My Mom says thank you Anneli, had a long conversation about you with her, and had to go to you blog so she could see some of your photos… she is fascinated by all the wishes from all over the world…

        • When it came to school and the like she was a terrier, she could rip the their heads off and let them no where they stood… she knew I was not the best student and had a small attitude, but she never took their side… she never liked the idea of sending me to boarding school but as we had no schools near us she had no option… my parents always encouraged me to stand up for my rights… I was once beaten for arguing with a maths teacher and as it turned out I was right and he wrong, she insisted on a written apology from the teacher and the head master, and she got it…

    • Thanks Mrs P. no I didn’t write either of them got them off the net and she loved them… she thanks you for the best wishes… this whole internet thing she has trouble understanding… “Where did you meet her?” her question to me, followed by an explanation of the net and blogs, still can’t fathom it out… shame…

      • I know quite a few personally, in their 80s who are quite into computers and do either work or genealogy, but none who are into blogging…except those we have met through our own blogs…they are something!

        I just think of how happy they would be…connecting with others.
