When you wish upon a star,
Just beware of where you are,
Noses grow, ask Pinocchio,
Knob-billed ducks can tell you so….
How would you like a bill like this…
This duck has such a knob on the bill one tends to miss its beautiful colours….
Want to know more about this duck ?? Click on this link….
He’s darling!!
Thanks
Beauty!
Thanks
A duck with a little shark fin on its beak! That is different 🙂
Hobbly Nobbly Dinkum Do…. keep out the water a duckshark is after you…. lol
.. and you said you didn’t have the heart of a poet!! 🙂
That’s quite some schnoz, bulldog. I wonder if he ever looks at his reflection and wonders, “What the heck is that?!!” 🙂
I’m sure it does…
In that first photo, I would swear in court that one bird rear-ended another bird and they’re stuck together! 😉
Remind me never to go to court with you….
Not even as a character witness?
You have some of the most interesting birds in your neck of the woods. 🙂
Thanks LuAnn
That’s just amazing! It almost appears as though he has a second head. He looks a little prehistoric!
Thanks Debra… prehistoric sounds almost correct … I wonder if the snoz bump is made of the same material as a rhino horn…???
His beak is just a stop sign so people will give a second look and see the glorious iridescent feathers and designs
Now that’s a good reason to have a snoz like that….
Amazing 😀 I have never seen this kind of duck before 🙂
Thanks… it actually comes in many parts of the world including South America, the India’s and even China…
That nose is pretty distracting…but wow! Those feathers are gorgeous!
Thanks … exactly what I thought…
Such beautiful colours and you’ve captured all the beauty of this cutie Rob! Stunning shots! Love the “freckles” on his face feathers. 😀
Thanks Sonel… the knob tends to take ones eyes away from its other beauties…
That knob is part of him and what makes him so special Rob. I love it. 😀
I will call him the “Jimmy Durante Duck.” How many of you understand the reference?
I do… thank you… he had quite the snoz on him…
Love the title and the photos!! You are right – your eyes go immediately to the snoz :).
Like most people with outstanding features, ones eyes are always attracted towards them…
Che strano becco ha questa anatra, però è bella ugualmente, ha dei colori belli.
Splendide foto carissimo.
Ciao, buona giornata.
Pat
Thanks Pat… but who knows why it has a beak like that…??
Interesting nobbiness but why?
Who knows
Hard to imagine what evolutionary purpose a beak like that serves, but no doubt there is one. This is definitely not a duck I have seen before.
Thanks Brian… there must be a reason for it… but not one I can find..
You have to wonder why the duck developed this shnoz in the first place. Nice pics, Rob 😀
Thanks Dianne… I cannot find an explanation for it…
Fascinating, never seen a duck like this before…
Thanks Sherri…an unusual looking duck
He’s a funny looking thing.
I agree Richard… thanks
It has it charm 😀 Great Pictures again! Pawkisses 🙂
Thanks
The top pic of his head is wonderful – love the freckles
I wonder what the knob’s purpose is…
Diana xo
I cannot find a definitive answer to that…
What a beautiful duck! Its only on your blog I such beautiful creatures, big and small, hairy and all!
Thank you… now there’s a slogan I need to use… “beautiful creatures, big and small, hairy and all” instead of my “What you see is what you get……. birds, animals, and all sorts of things” … may I use that??
Absolutely, it just came out of my little pretty brain. I would be thrilled if you use that tag line.
i’m sure his mother loves him (and you and other bird lovers)
Probably… thanks. .. one wonders the reason for it though…
