Clippety-clop.. this is the end of the lot…

Here are a few more of the Grey Crowned Crane I captured the other week, Like the flamingos, I can’t get enough of these photos, as well as the cropping such close ups afford…

Have a great week all of you…..

What beautiful eyes you have.. and leathery cheek…

I love this shot I took with a little zoom… the bird remained un-perturbed by my hand over the ledge adjusting the zoom…

I probably would never have been able to see the birds eye so close, or for that matter, the leathery type skin of the cheek, if this bird had of known I was in the hide…

S0292413

I loved this shot for the artistic shape and form of the feathers… the bird was preening behind its wing… also with a little zoom…

One of the other birds that was in close proximity was watching me with great interest….

One can almost hear it saying “I have my eye on you, try anything funny and I’ll warn my friend !!”

How low can you go… over the edge for me..

Grey Crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum).

I paid a favourite spot a visit yesterday and was rewarded in a different way. Phyllis or Lorna, not sure which one, was standing directly below the edge of the hide. I could not lean out she would have moved, so I merely pointed my camera over the side and used my tilting screen to focus and take the shots.

She was preening away happily and seemed to take little to no notice of the camera… But these are what you could call close encounters of the unexpected kind…. here’s a picture to show the set up….

aaa

and these were a few of the resultant captures….. I like them…

Now lets get back to a bird called Lorna…

I named a bird after Lorna of Lornasvoice (to see her blog click here)… she has a certain likeness to this bird. She has a very special sense of humour (The bird and Lorna) and this likeness comes through in her posts.

Here are a few more photos of the Grey Crowned Crane (different perspectives)…
