I have posted on the Southern Masked Weaver before so won’t bother boring you with all sorts of details about the bird… but suffice it to say, they came to visit my “fruit salad” tree… never noticed before how aggro the bird looks, or maybe he didn’t like the paparazzi sitting there with a camera… see for yourself…
and this is what the female looks like… she chased the male off the orange, cheeky B…….

I was going to say “I can see why this little bird needs a mask–it’s quite the fruit bandit!” But then the last pics have birds without a masked face. Are these the ladies?
That’s right that is the females… pretty plain Janes they are…
Funny how in the animal kingdom, males are the flashy ones, but in humans, females are the ones to make themselves look outstanding.
That little guy knows how to ‘dig in’ to dinner. So cute to see all that led up to his mealtime.

You know this fruit salad tree is a great idea…. I might come at night to have a bit of a nibble there…..I love fruit salad! I am just not so good at flying! 🙂

Wow the colours of your birds are awesome – weird though, the male is prettier than the female – don’t get that very often…… hahaha
