What you see is what you get……. birds, animals, and all sorts of things, but remember; Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don't strive to make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt. .

Oh and of course the lion is my favorite. I would absolutely love to just cuddle up next to him/her. I know . . . “no you wouldn’t!” Breathtaking photo!
It literally takes my breath away that you live in such a breathtaking part of the world. I do have a concern about many lets say wealthy people from my country that find it so delightful to go on safaris, shoot these breathtaking animals in your country and bring them home to stuff and use as decorations in their homes. Can you please help me with this? Maybe it’s just me but I could never do something like that. And I’m proud of it!
As a youngster I did a little bit of shooting for the pot…. the trophy hunting thing is big business and brings millions of dollars into our economy… I don’t like it and even have a nephew who is a guide for such safaris… it happens, I don’t like it, but can’t do anything about it, so I tend to try and ignore it… it doesn’t happen in the Parks but more on private ranches…
Some very nice pictures there. I do like the pictures of the gazelle and especially the symmetry of the 3rd one before the end (173) and again of the last picture.
What stunning photographs! I honestly don’t know how I would react if these beautiful creatures were within camera range…I’d probably choke….Kudos for keeping calm and taking beautiful shots!
Oh, Bulldog, these are so beautiful. I am so blessed you will return there soon. I know it is your heart’s desire!! I love the lion sunning himself. Spectacular!!
It is now not looking so good, with the car still being repaired a Sunday departure seems to be out… and therefore a shortened trip is on the cards… but there will be something to photo where we will now go…
A Black Backed Jackal… thank you… hope we now make it to take more, with the car still at the repair shop and an end hardly in sight, we might not get down to the Kalahari…
You are so right, but we received word today about our car that is still at the repair shop, it is still not ready and might not be on time… this could be a disaster…
On the one hand the shots are great! On the other they are a bit scary because these magnificent animals aren’t in a zoo (hurray) and there isn’t much protection between you and them.
Vanessa, I can’t speak for him, but I can say I’d love to see you do it… my camera would be on high speed shooting mode, to not only see the surprise on his face, but to see how fast you can run when he realises it is not a female lion petting him…. lol.. but there is a place here where you can enter a cage of young lion and pet them, I would suggest that rather, I like having you around and I know you will one day recite a special poem to me…
TBM, you have been here, or should I say Botswana you know what it is like, I’m sure with your talent you could write a wonderful novel set in the area, a romance between a field guide and his charges, or the love between two guides, I just think you could write a good book set in these surroundings…

I would love to cuddle up with a lion… it might be my last cuddle so Linda will have to do for now…

I cannot imagine seeing all that you have seen…wow! 🙂
Thanks at the moment all we’re seeing is rain…
A perfect weekend getaway post. Fun, adventurous, exciting. Thanks.
Thank you…

It is a privilege to see what we see… something we don’t often remember…

Great captures, bulldog, and of course I love the gorgeous lion. 🙂
Thanks AD
Stunning photos, love the lion king up at the top! 🙂
Thanks Amanda…
Beautiful photos Rob, certainly makes me want to go back there.
With the car problems now I think it is a pipe dream…
Fantastic! Never EVER get sick of looking at your wildlife photos – bring it on.
Thank you…. too kind..
Great pics!!
Thanks Anneli
Absolutely wonderful!
Thanks Cee
Is that second shot a Fennec? Great pictures, and I agree that the lion looks very soft and cuddly 🙂
The second shot is of a Black-backed Jackal… the Fennec is a little more like our Bat-eared fox… thank you…
Thanks for clearing that up. I do like the idea of a bat-eared fox. I think I’ll order one for Christmas- easier to post than a lion 🙂
Great photos, I really like the ones of that coyote looking animal…what is that exactly?
A Black Backed Jackal… thank you… hope we now make it to take more, with the car still at the repair shop and an end hardly in sight, we might not get down to the Kalahari…
oh no! I hope you make it too!
Amazing! I’ll bet you can’t wait to take some more!
You are so right, but we received word today about our car that is still at the repair shop, it is still not ready and might not be on time… this could be a disaster…
Oh no! Do you want to borrow our nice black Chevy pickup truck? Fingers crossed for you.

A whole car door between us… and a quick foot on the accelerator…
The lion looks so peaceful and relaxed. It’s hard to imagine he can turn into a very effective killing machine.
Don’t they just… sometimes I just want to fluff his mane… not sure how my arm would look though…
You know, I am crazy with the first one… how beautiful, how beautiful… Thank you, love, nia
Thank you Nia.. I know how you love Lions…
I just want to go and give that lion a big cuddle, and run my fingers through his lovely mane! Do you think he’d mind?

I miss Botswana. It was amazing to see some of these animals and I’m so jealous of you!

Super shots. You are so lucky to see this beauty every day
Thank you… it is a privilege one tends to forget till reminded by others… so I say again, thank you…
